This is a fully onsite role based in Kalamazoo, MI; candidates must live within commuting distance and be onsite 4–5 days per week.

    What you will do
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers to deliver high-quality product improvements and support, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.
  • Manage complex engineering projects from planning through execution, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and on-quality delivery.
  • Drive compliance with regulatory standards by overseeing design controls and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to translate clinical needs into technical strategies.
  • Set strategic direction for sustaining engineering initiatives and align team goals with business objectives.
  • Influence product design and development through hands-on mentoring in mechanical engineering best practices.
  • Manage project-level budgets and contribute to broader R&D financial planning and forecasting.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring, development, and team culture.

What you need

    Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering experience, including 4+ years in design engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD (parametric design), Machine and Mechanism design, GD&T, and component/assembly design for manufacturing such as injection molding, welding, and sheet metal.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, FEA, and prototyping tools.
  • Demonstrated success leading subsystem design for product launches.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor engineers in technical and peer review practices.
  • Strong track record of delivering high-quality, compliant products on schedule.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Experience in the healthcare or medical device industry.
  • Skilled in performance management and talent development.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical strategies to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to deliver programs on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
