Job Summary

The Community Engagement Coordinator acts as a liaison with the community on behalf of the Encircle Home, working directly with grade schools, secondary schools, universities, community coalitions, nonprofits, businesses, etc. to table, give presentations, organize events, and more. They also work to bring LGBTQ+ youth and their families closer to affirming spaces in the community by maintaining and supporting the Home's community partnerships and relationships. They plan weekend community events alongside the Encircle Home's stakeholders. Lastly, the Community Engagement Coordinator supervises Drop-In Hours to make sure all community members coming to Encircle have a welcoming experience.

    Responsibilities
  • Supervise Drop-In Hours during at least one shift a week
  • Coordinate all tabling, presentations, and other outreach requests received by the Encircle Home
  • Maintain presentations, materials, and equipment utilized at community outreach events
  • Coordinate communications at the Encircle Home with external stakeholders (e.g. schools, universities, volunteers, etc.)
  • Maintain a directory and record of community partners
  • Schedule, plan, and implement outreach events
  • Support Encircle's stakeholders in developing monthly weekend community events
  • Hire and manage Community Engagement Interns to assist with the aforementioned responsibilities
    Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or some college experience in related field (psychology, social work, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with public speaking and proven ability to successfully deliver presentations
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with community members and partners
  • General computer skills, M/S Office. Email, etc.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with youth and providing mentorship
  • Experience facilitating group discussions
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Enthusiastic, self-driven, and friendly
  • Ability to pass a Utah State background check
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

Time Commitment: 20 hours a week (on average). Some evening and weekend work required.

Expected salary: $18 per hour
