Summary of Job Duties:
The Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology is seeking a part-time Student Research Assistant to support an NIH-funded research project in Dr. Kristen Muller’s lab. This project explores the use of eye-tracking technology to evaluate word understanding in autistic children who are non-speaking or minimally verbal.
This is a unique opportunity for students interested in autism research, language development, and innovative assessment methods. The role will provide hands-on experience in data collection, eye-tracking procedures, and research operations within a collaborative academic setting.
- This position is set to begin in Summer 2025.Qualifications:
- Must be a current student at UAMS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Sciences, Psychology, Biological Sciences, or a related field
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant work, research, or clinical experience, particularly in areas related to autism, language development, or child behavior
- Responsibilities:
- Complete training modules for eye-tracking hardware and software.
- Help administer behavioral, cognitive, and language assessments to autistic children.
- Assist with community advisory board meetings.
- Assist with data collection and data entry.
- Collaborate with research team members.
- Prepare materials to utilize during eye-tracking assessments.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Work 10 hours a week.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the project.
