Narrate Short Children's Book (Soothing Female Voice + Light Background Music)
I’m looking for a female voice narrator to professionally record my children’s picture book, Wally is Worried. The finished audiobook should have a warm, calming tone, ideal for young children (ages 4–8) listening at home, in classrooms, or in therapy settings.
This is a short, emotionally sensitive story about a child experiencing anxiety. The narration should feel gentle and nurturing—like a trusted teacher or parent reading aloud. Think Mister Rogers, but make it maternal
What I Need:
A 5–8 minute finished audiobook (manuscript is ~1,000 words)
Soft, emotionally grounded female narration
Light background music added throughout (I can provide royalty-free options or we can select one together)
Intro + outro audio (simple: “This is Wally is Worried, written by Erin Waters…” and “Thanks for listening…”)
Output files in MP3, 44.1 kHz, 192 kbps or higher
Files split by section if needed (intro, story, credits), formatted for Findaway Voices
Ideal Candidate:
Experience with children’s audiobook narration or read-aloud voiceover work
Comfort working with sensitive/emotional material
Access to royalty-free background music or mixing experience
Strong audio quality (clean sound, professional mic, minimal background noise)
Can deliver files ready for distribution upload
To Apply:
Please include:
1) A short sample (even a voice memo is fine!)—ideally reading this excerpt:
“Wally did have watermelon worries.
Some days, his big round melon was so full of worries, he couldn’t think about anything else. Everything seemed to cause a new one.”
2) Turnaround time
3) Note if you already have music you’d suggest or want me to provide a track
4) Flat rate fee
This is a one-time project with potential for future series work. Thank you—I can’t wait to hear your voice bring Wally to life
