Contract Front End Developer
Front-End Web Developer – Squarespace Implementation for SAPHL.org
We are looking for a Front-End Web Developer to build our new website using Squarespace. The visual design has already been completed; your main responsibility will be to bring these designs to life accurately in Squarespace and ensure a good user experience. This is a short term contract to complete a specific project.
Responsibilities
- Site Development
- Build the website in Squarespace, translating provided design files (from Figma) into pixel-perfect pages.
- Customize Squarespace styles, templates, and layouts to fully align with the approved design.
- Implement responsive design to ensure the site displays correctly on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Create interactive maps
- Content Integration
- Upload and format text, images, videos, and other assets consistently across the site.
- Configure navigation menus, footers, and other common components.
- Customization
- Use Squarespace Developer tools, code blocks, or custom CSS/JavaScript where needed to achieve unique visual or interactive elements.
- Quality Assurance
- Test the site in multiple browsers and devices to confirm functionality, visual consistency, and responsiveness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues prior to launch.
- Launch Support
- Prepare the site for go-live, including domain connection, site settings configuration, and performance checks.
- Provide documentation or brief training to the internal team for ongoing content updates.
- Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building websites on Squarespace (portfolio or examples required).
- Strong proficiency in front-end technologies:
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Responsive design best practices.
- Familiarity with Squarespace features, templates, and customization capabilities.
- Ability to accurately implement pre-existing designs.
- Experience customizing Squarespace using developer mode, code blocks, or custom integrations.
- Basic understanding of SEO and accessibility best practices.
- Familiarity with optimizing images and content for fast load times.
