UI Designer; FT or PT; North or South America

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-07-27

I’m hiring a UI designer to join our small team. Our company embraces 100% remote work and flexible hours. We’re open to hiring full-time or part-time for this position. I’m expecting we’ll have enough work for at least a year; though if it goes well, it could easily continue for years.

    Your role will be to:
  • Talk to customers about how our product isn’t currently meeting their needs.
  • Design solutions that our development team will implement.
  • Validate the improvements with our customers.
  • Iterate on this process to continue to improve the product.
I’d like to hire you if you:
  • Have 3+ years in UI design and experience with customer research.
  • Are self-motivated and can solve problems independently.
  • Have excellent written and verbal English skills.
  • Live in North or South America.

My company is called Custody X Change. I’ve been working on the business since 2004. We sell a web application that creates co-parenting schedules and plans. It also helps families make difficult decisions post-divorce/separation, and facilities communication between two parents who may not get along very well anymore. All of this reduces a lot of conflict and saves people a ton of money in legal fees.

The biggest problem to solve first is our mobile design. (Our product is a PWA, not a native app.) We designed our product desktop-first, and simply made it responsive for mobile. We’d like to upend that thinking, and design a mobile-first experience instead. Improvements there will also flow into our desktop experience.

We’ve conducted desktop usability studies, but we haven’t done any mobile-specific user research. Improving our mobile experience will improve user engagement and satisfaction – especially as we validate the changes we make with customers.

So, if you want to improve a genuinely helpful product, and join a small, distributed team, then we should talk.

To apply, email me at [email protected], and:
  • Include your resume in PDF format
  • Somehow use the word "lime" in the subject of your email
  • Answer the following 3 questions in your email, in this order:
  • Where do you live?
  • Why are you a good candidate for this position? (50-100 words)
  • What salary would you be happy making for this fully remote position? Are you wanting a full-time or part-time role?

Thanks,
Ben

P.S. I want you to be happy working for me. You’ll be evaluated on results, nothing else.
