Position Summary
We’re seeking a sharp, experienced Senior Bookkeeper & Quality Control Specialist who loves diving into complex reconciliations, coaching junior bookkeepers, and ensuring every set of books tells a crystal-clear financial story. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of clients, oversee the full monthly close process, conduct quality control reviews, lead client-facing meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement within our operations.
If you're a confident problem-solver, skilled in QuickBooks Online and other accounting software, and excited to provide advisory-level insight while working remotely within a supportive team, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Bookkeeping & Client Management
- Own a portfolio of client accounts; manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks
- Post and code transactions using Dext, Bill.com, and the client accounting database, ensuring accurate accrual-based categorization of income, expenses, payables, and receivables
- Reconcile all Balance Sheet / Statement of Financial Position accounts monthly, including bank, credit card, loan, prepaid, fixed asset, and liability accounts
- Process and allocate complex payrolls, benefits, and payroll accruals
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Income Statement or P&L with Statement of Activities)
- Conduct financial review meetings with clients via Zoom
- Provide advisory insights, answer client questions, and support their decision-making
- Quality Control & Oversight
- Review the work of junior bookkeepers for completeness and accuracy
- Troubleshoot errors and identify root causes before escalating issues
- Maintain and improve QC checklists, reports, and documentation
- Guide cleanups, onboarding processes, and ongoing account health
- Team Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Train, mentor, and provide feedback to junior staff
- Contribute to workflow documentation, SOP updates, and internal training
- Recommend and implement process enhancements and tool efficiencies
- Collaborate cross-functionally to meet deadlines and client goals
What We’re Looking For
- Must-Have Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-service accounting experience
- 2+ years of experience with QuickBooks Online (QB Certified ProAdvisor)
- Experience working at a bookkeeping or accounting firm with multiple clients in a variety of accounting software
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, and payroll
- Confident, proactive communicator who can manage client relationships
- Self-starter who enjoys solving puzzles and recommending best practices
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required)
- U.S. residency and ability to work Eastern Time Zone hours
- Bonus Points For Experience With:
- Nonprofit accounting
- Tools: Dext, Keeper, Karbon, Notion, Bill.com, LastPass, Asana, Ignition
- Preparing 1099s, sales tax filings, and quarterly payroll returns
- Cleanup projects and QBO setups

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts during regular Eastern Time business hours
