Astroscale U.S. Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer to join our team in our Denver, Colorado location. In this role you will be a member of the RPO team, integral to developing the on-orbit servicing solutions that will deliver our vision of a sustainable space environment.

    Job Description
  • Perform mission design, analysis and optimization using orbital dynamics tools
  • Develop, validate, and use software tools for trajectory planning, rendezvous and proximity operations, momentum management and propellant state and lifetime estimation
  • Create test plans and perform functional software testing and integration of flight dynamics software
  • Perform analysis and planning for rendezvous and proximity operations across a multi-disciplinary team for delta-V and safe trajectory planning for nominal and abort modes
  • Work directly with stakeholders to develop mission and software requirements
  • Support analyses and training activities that inform ground system development and mission operations activities
  • Perform operations support throughout the mission lifecycle
  • Provide subject matter expertise in orbital mechanics throughout the company
    Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on flight dynamics experience, including mission design, software tool development, and operations
  • Understanding of satellite missions
  • Demonstrated experience in orbital mechanics, trajectory simulation, optimization methodology, statistics, mass properties, and conceptual design
  • Experience with one or more scientific or engineering programming languages such as Matlab, Simulink, Python, C, or C++
  • Experience with astrodynamics tools such as STK, Free-Flyer, GMAT, or Orekit
  • Collaborative communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently, as part of a team, and to provide mentoring across the team
  • Flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and agile environment, meeting challenges such as balancing the flight dynamics needs of programs at different stages of maturity and enabling successful remote collaboration with various teams around the world
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or PhD in science, technology, engineering or math, or equivalent experience

Salary range: $130,000-160,000. The salary range represents the low and high end of the Astroscale U.S. Inc. salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, knowledge, and ability as applicable to the role.
