Summary:
The Pharmacy Benefit MAP Technician Supervisor helps lead a team of technicians who provide critical support related to medication access, utilization, and optimization. The MAP team is responsible for facilitating prescription benefit prior authorizations and copay assistance, including enrollment in manufacturer assistance programs for outpatient prescriptions. The team's goal is to navigate payer-related coverage requirements and reduce patient financial toxicity.
This position recruits, arranges training, conducts Human Resource related functions, and otherwise supervises a staff of pharmacy technicians and directs the day-to-day technician operations of the unit or department. The position plays a key role in meeting hospital and departmental goals by identifying and implementing process improvements, with a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality patient care and customer service. This position and team operate with a high level of autonomy and work remotely with patients, prescribers, payers, and other members of the healthcare team.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (remote)
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee daily activities of the MAP pharmacy technician team, including task assignment, workload management, scheduling, and ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery.
2. Maintains expertise in core pharmacy technician functions, including medication access, prior authorization, copay assistance, and use of relevant systems.
3. Establishes goals and objectives for the team. Identifies workflow gaps and implement performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
4. Selects, trains, evaluates, counsels, motivates and disciplines employees on the team. Upholds all applicable organizational, departmental, and work unit human resource related policies and procedures.
5. Supervises staff and activities of unit. Assigns duties and tasks to employees. Monitors workload and makes appropriate adjustments. Ensures quality of work and creates and monitors work schedules to ensure adequate staffing. Serves as primary resource for employees regarding problems and interpretation and application of policies and procedures.

- High school diploma or GED. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred. Licensure/Certification Requirements:
- Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy. • CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA required Professional Experience Requirements:
- Three years of pharmacy technician experience required or two years of pharmacy technician experience and two years of supervisory experience in related or unrelated field. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
- Strong understanding of pharmacy benefits and medication access challenges, including experience with prior authorizations and/or copay assistance processes (preferred).
- Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple requests while effectively prioritizing urgent issues.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with leadership teams and stakeholders both within and outside of a healthcare organization. Job Details
