Job title: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SAXOPHONE Company: Ithaca College Job description : Job Description: Position: Situated in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of NY, The Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance (MTD) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Saxophone position to begin on August 16, 2024. Ithaca is a classic college town, quite simply a wonderful place to make music, teach, live, and work. Performance faculty are expected to perform at a high professional level on their instrument. Faculty are collegial and collaborative and do a significant amount of performing internationally, nationally, in the Central New York region and in nearby cities such as Syracuse, Rochester, Binghamton, and New York City. The saxophone professor will teach students in a range of degrees, including Bachelor of Music programs in Music Performance, Music Education, Music Education and Performance, Sound Recording Technology, Jazz Studies, Composition, Music in Combination with an Outside Field, as well as the B.A. in Music and the Minor in Music. While MTD offers a wide range of esteemed degree programs, the unique culture of the school promotes a sense of unity and purpose that fosters collaborative music-making among all students regardless of their major. Ithaca College faculty have a passion for collegiate teaching. The saxophone professor will teach undergraduate classes in areas such as weekly private lessons, studio performance classes, saxophone methods, chamber music, and other areas based on the candidate's experience and the needs of the school. Faculty are expected to participate in departmental, school, and college-wide service, such as recruiting for their studio, Center for Music auditions, grading juries and recitals, assisting with ensemble placement auditions, and student advising, among other areas. The saxophone professor will also assist with the management of the school's inventory of saxophones and related equipment. Qualifications: A master's degree is required. We prefer candidates who have a significant amount of professional performance experience, a record of successful college teaching, and who share our commitment to professional preparation within the context of an interdisciplinary and immersive liberal arts education.
