Our growing team is seeking an Associate Buyer Account Executive who will strategize with management, performing all activities associated with selling goods for resale and the opportunity to establish and build strong client relationships. This position will manage some client relationships, as well as provide support to the team of wholesale VPs. The position reports directly to SVP Wholesale Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with management and our wholesale team members to develop and implement an overall buying and resale strategy and plan designed to purchase and resell consumer goods to off-price and other retailers, large marketplaces (such as Amazon and Walmart), and other potential sales outlets.
  • Assist the wholesale team by acquiring consumer goods consistent with the strategies and plans.
  • Identify, negotiate price and other terms for, and source consumer goods for resale consistent with the strategies and plans.
  • Possess pre-existing relationships with networks of buyers from off-price/regular priced retailers (brick and mortar and e-commerce), government agencies/organizations, and other potential sales outlets. Leverage those relationships to gain an understanding of their buying plans for integration into Hilco’s strategies and plans. Foster and maintain existing retail customer accounts, as well as grow our domestic & international retail customer base and sales by sourcing new wholesale and closeout buyers across multiple categories.
  • Create effective promotional materials for consumer goods purchased by or available to Hilco for resale, distribute these materials to your and Hilco’s relevant network of buyers from off-price and other retailers (brick and mortar and e-commerce), identify and remain in contact with interested parties, following up and timely providing responses to follow up inquiries, negotiate price and other terms and conditions consistent with the internal financial models.
  • Assist with recovery valuation estimates on complex inventory offerings based on industry knowledge and research across various product categories
  • Critically evaluate and compare actual financial results against modeled financial results and develop and implement changes based on learnings.

Key Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required.
  • 3+ years of experience selling and/or buying goods into the off-price/closeout space, regular retail and private sector.
  • Must have solid and proven hunting, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Willingness to travel 25% throughout North America.
  • Ability to become a category expert across a wide range of consumer products.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting Relationship:

  • This position reports to the SVP Wholesale.

Work Hours and Conditions:

  • In addition to a minimum of 40 hours per week, domestic and international travel required to attend business conferences, meetings with clients and/or oversee deal start-ups as needed. If working remotely, travelling to the Northbrook office is required once per month.

In compliance with the Illinois Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role in Illinois is between $90,000.00 and $100,000.00. This range does not include discretionary bonus or other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with this job. If a candidate's experience differs from the requirements, the salary may be adjusted accordingly.
