QA Manager (Food Processing/Production, Imported Foods)

Location: Columbia, MD or Remote within the US

Salary: $60,000-80,000 + Benefits

Typical Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day; occasional after-hours for overseas coordination

QA Manager (Food Processing/Production, Imported Foods) Description

Our client, a leader in imported food and private-label solutions, is looking for a QA Manager to join their team in Columbia, MD. You will be responsible for managing documentation, analyzing lab testing for compliance, and product specifications for seafood imports. This role will support the company’s continued growth and ensure food safety and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a background in QA/QC within food processing and be comfortable reviewing lab data and interfacing with overseas suppliers. This is an excellent opportunity to shape a growing QA program at one of the top U.S. food importers.

QA Manager (Food Processing/Production, Imported Foods) Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, BRC, BAP, ASC, and MSC
  • Interpret lab reports to verify compliance with U.S. import regulations
  • Write and review product specifications and labeling to meet FDA and customer standards
  • Monitor supplier compliance with food safety, regulatory, and social audit requirements
  • Coordinate packaging and labeling reviews for U.S. market compliance
  • Lead third-party audit preparation, execution, and corrective action follow-up
  • Analyze QA and QC data to identify trends and drive improvements
  • Support traceability and sustainability initiatives across the supply chain
  • Communicate with U.S. customers on quality, recalls, and regulatory issues
  • Collaborate with procurement, sales, R&D, and logistics teams to align QA goals
  • Partner with overseas suppliers to ensure product and process compliance
  • Track changes in food safety regulations and recommend proactive measures
  • Travel internationally (10–20%) for supplier visits and audits as needed
  • Work flexible hours to address urgent issues with global teams across time zones

QA Manager (Food Processing/Production, Imported Foods) Qualifications

  • 4+ years of quality experience in food processing/production required
  • Experience reviewing lab test results and product specifications required
  • Experience with quality assurance and compliance with FDA regulations required
  • Willingness/ability to travel for 2 international trips/year required
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills required
