Audio describers and writers for research study on accessible dance education
I am a researcher with the Computer Science department at UT Austin. I am working on designing technology systems for making dance instruction accessible for blind and low-vision students. I am recruiting audio describers and creative writers for participation in a research study.
The study will be held in-person at the Gates Dell Complex (GDC) on the UT Austin campus. It will be sometime in the last two weeks of July, depending on participants' availability. It will be in a group interview format and focus on understanding accessibility challenges for blind and low-vision dance students. The study will include interactive activities for brainstorming narrative, audio, and haptic-based solutions to address these challenges. Participants will be asked to collaboratively brainstorm non-visual dance tutorials given example dance tutorial clips using sound, narration, haptics, and any other modalities. Participants will not be required to perform any physical activity and can choose to exit the study at any time. Participants will be compensated $30/hr for their time, and the study will run for 2-3 hours. Food and refreshments will be provided.
Please message me if you are interested! Thank you so much for your time.
