Position Overview:
We are seeking a flexible, intellectually curious, and editorially rigorous Editor in Chief to lead the editorial and publishing operations at our research and analysis firm. This pivotal role will drive the quality, clarity, timeliness, and strategic direction of our insights across all types of publications, such as research reports, graphics, PowerPoint presentations, video and more.
- The Editor in Chief will own:
- Macro: The editorial vision and execution at an overall level, including the content calendar of 600+ research publications per year. In addition to working closely with analysts to elevate content, the Editor in Chief will manage the research calendar and production workflow, playing a central role in how and when we engage our clients with compelling insight.
- Micro: The full content lifecycle of individual publications. While increasingly leaning on technology for editing support, the Editor in Chief will ensure every piece meets our standards for analytical excellence and publication discipline and manage those pieces through to publication.
The Editor in Chief will work with the Head of Global Research to operationalize aims around research quality, research coverage and other aspects of research output.
Key Responsibilities:
- Editorial Strategy & Leadership
- Define and uphold editorial standards across all publications, ensuring consistency, clarity, and credibility.
- Shape and maintain a distinct editorial voice that aligns with our brand, market positioning, and audience expectations.
- Serve as the final editorial gatekeeper for publications, ensuring analytical rigor, strong narrative structure, and professional polish.
- Research Calendar Ownership & Publication Planning
- Own and manage the calendar of syndicated research reportsdetermining what content gets published, when, and with what strategic priority. This includes establishing deadlines for analysts.
- Coordinate closely with analysts and leadership to ensure content aligns with internal goals, industry and company events, and client needs, as well as analyst capacity.
- Proactively manage deadlines and deliverables, holding teams accountable for timely, high-quality content development.
- Ensure a consistent voice in tone, approach and content, particularly with consistency in messaging and point of view.
- Production Workflow Management
- Oversee the production workflow, including editing, layout, approvals, and publishing. This includes managing two production associates/graphic designers.
- Manage the flow of a substantial volume of individual items through to publicationthis may include PowerPoint decks, blog posts, videos, graphics/infographics, emails and data updates as well as research reports.
- Establish and enforce efficient processes in editorial and production.
- Ensure adherence to key deadlines for each publication, using workflow tools such as Jira as well as direct communication with analysts. Oversee a research operations role for implementation of tools.
- Quality Standards & Collaboration
- Ensure each item of research adheres to our quality standards, rework as necessary, and work with analysts to ensure those standards are met.
- Partner with analysts to sharpen perspectives, elevate analysis/insights, and clarify structure and tone.
- Provide hands-on editing and editorial coaching to elevate team writing.
- Quality Control & Editorial Review
- Oversee all editing phases, including copyediting, and proofreading.
- Lean on emerging technologies to automate repetitive, recurring tasks such as copyediting as much as possible. Expand our use of automation over time.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and professionalism in all published contentwhich may include social media posts, blog posts, video content (including captions), PowerPoint slides/decks, graphics/infographics, emails and data updates as well as research reports.
- Establish and evolve editorial style guides and publishing procedures.
- Analytics
- Oversee a research operations role for analysis of metrics such as readership/page views. Direct and review analysis of metrics.
- Report and recommendations based on this analysissuch as what we should publish and when, publications/formats we should retire, changes to cadence, etc.
- Other
- This role may involve recording segments for podcasts, talk tracks for videos, and similar.
- Coordinate and review the content of research emails (daily and weekly). Propose content and poof for formatting. In time, this may be migrated to a marketing colleague.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with colleagues in events, business development and leadership to align publishing priorities with broader business objectives.
- Propose new publication formats, approaches and subjects to evolve our research offering.
- Stay on top of trends in publishing, B2B research, and content marketing to keep our editorial approach competitive and modern.
- Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
- 8+ years of editorial experience in a research-driven or analysis-oriented environment (e.g., consulting, market intelligence, financial journalism).
- Demonstrated success managing content calendars, production workflows, and editorial operations.
- An ability to combine managing the bigger picture (strategic objectives) with managing individual editorial tasks (day-to-day operations).
- An ability to make recommendations on publication based on observations and analysis.
- Able to juggle long-term strategy with fast-moving deliverables, with the resilience and flexibility to work under pressure with multiple, complex deadlines.
- Exceptional editing and writing skills, with strong judgment on tone, structure, and clarity.
- Experience managing or mentoring analysts, researchers, or writers in a deadline-driven environment.
- Preferred: Bachelors degree in Journalism, English, Business, Economics, or related field; Masters degree a plus.

- Experience managing editorial workflows using tools such as Jira, Sharepoint, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with analytics tools/platforms such as Matomo and Hubspot.
- Knowledge of emerging AI tools and their use in editorial tasks.
- Strong understanding of B2B content strategy and audience expectations in business research.
