Job Title: Subject Matter Expert (SME) – DB2 z/OS Support
Duration: 3+ Months
Location: Remote (EST Time Zone) – Travel required for the first week only; fully remote thereafter
Job Summary:
A leading organization is seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS Support SME to provide advanced-level support, upgrade planning, and system-level troubleshooting for DB2 on z/OS platforms. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring high performance, stability, and resilience of enterprise-level DB2 environments.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement DB2 version upgrades for current and future releases
- Perform expert-level troubleshooting for DB2 and z/OS systems
- Tune DB2 performance, including buffer pools, storage optimization, and I/O times
- Manage software maintenance and upgrades, including CA tools
- Execute contingency recovery and system-level backup & recovery strategies
- Resolve and monitor system-level DB2 performance issues
- Provide technical assistance across various teams/agencies with DB2-related challenges
- Collaborate with IBM to open and resolve product support cases
- Act swiftly to resolve outages and minimize system downtime
- Required Skills & Proficiencies:
- Extensive experience with DB2 and z/OS systems
- Proficiency in the following tools and environments:
- QMF (Versions 7–13)
- IBM DB2 Tools (up to V13.10)
- IBM Data Studio
- Platinum Tools / Omegamon for DB2
- CA Insight, Detector, and other CA DB2 Tools
- COBOL
- Additional Notes:
- Candidate must be available to travel onsite for the first week of onboarding
- Work is conducted in the Eastern Time Zone
- Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential
