Transportation Designer (Roadway/Highway Design)
Location: Hybrid - Raleigh, NC area | WFH: Thursday & Friday
Full-Time | Direct Hire
- We are seeking a highly experienced Transportation Designer with a deep understanding of roadway and highway design to support complex infrastructure projects for NCDOT. The ideal candidate will have strong command of OpenRoads and MicroStation V8i, and a proven track record in delivering final plan sets for roads, highways, interchanges, and multi-modal transportation systems.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and finalize engineering design documents including:
- Roadway design
- Traffic management plans
- Signing and pavement marking plans
- Quantities, cost estimates, specifications
- Produce high-quality plan sets for preliminary and final submittals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and review design details and specifications
- Participate in construction administration as needed
- Coordinate work efficiently within NCDOT standards
- Actively engage in professional development, mentorship, or industry initiatives
- Assist with special projects and duties as assigned by leadership Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in roadway/highway design
- Expert proficiency in MicroStation V8i
- Advanced experience using OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
- In-depth understanding of transportation planning and design for:
- Highways
- Streets
- Interchanges
- Roundabouts
- Multi-modal facilities
- Familiarity with NCDOT standards, formats, and workflows
- Strong technical communication and time management skills Compensation:
