pDescription/ppstrongReport to nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/strongCoordinator of the Writer’s Studio/ppstrongDepartment nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/strongLibrary -strong /strongAcademics/ppstrongFLSA Status nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;/strongHourly, Non-Exempt/ppbr/strongJOB PURPOSE/strong/ppTo assist students of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Spurgeon College to develop success oriented writing skills.br//ppstrongESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/strong/pulliCreate an inviting environment to enable students to grow and mature in their writing capabilities/liliAssist students at any stage of the writing process through both on-campus and online conferences ul lianswer writing-related questions/li lihelp students learn and practice writing strategies/li liConnect students to the Midwestern style guide/li lidirect students to outside resources,nbsp;/li licoach students through critiquing to strengthen their work in areas of ideas, structure, flow, etc./li /ul/liliMaintain detailed records of each student conference/liliAssist with writing workshops and special events/liliFollow the Writer’s Studio philosophy and process/li/ulpstrongQUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS/strong/ppustrongMUST BE CURRENT STUDENT OF MBTS OR SPURGEON COLLEGE, AND/strong/u/ppustrongMUST QUALIFY FOR THE FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM VIA FAFSA/strong/u/ppbr/Including, but not limited to/pulliChristian with high integrity, currently pursuing a relationship with God/liliA Bachelor’s degree or 100 Accelerate program hours successfully completed./liliA high level of writing competence (including a strong knowledge of the writing process, effective structure and argumentation, appropriate use of sources, research skills)/liliThis is not a remote position. nbsp;Residency on the Midwestern campus or in the Kansas City Metropolitan area is required./liliStrong verbal coaching and interpersonal skills (the ability to express ideas and answer questions clearly, encourage student success, ask questions, and offer suggestions in a clear and constructive manner)/liliComputer skills to enable conferencing effectively with students through e-mail and/or meeting programs, such as Teams/liliA servant leader with a strong desire to help fellow students become stronger and more confident writers/liliAble to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department/liliAble to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision./liliAble to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
