Sr. Engineer, Quality Improvement
The Sr. Engineer, Quality Improvement is responsible for supporting the governance, guidance, deployment, and competency development of Process Certification, Problem Solving, and Compliance Assurance processes as a global resource to aid in the success of our operations sites’ business KPI metrics. This role will be responsible complementary competency growth development of the quality improvement team as well as the competency development of the process skillset within the operation sites. In this role you will be expected to operate as and preform to the standard of a subject matter expert.
This position will serve our Enterprise Division remotely. 75% travel (domestic and international) and must live near a major airport.
- Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize process improvement opportunities throughout at operational sites.
- Partner with site leadership through onsite support to advance quality at the site and develop the site’s core competencies in core quality tools including process design and development including process certification, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, problem solving and SPC.
- Lead improvement projects/events (e.g. Process Certification, Problem Solving, Compliance finding CARs) though to completion by utilizing sound project management techniques
- Develop the training material for the processes owned (e.g. Process Certification, Problem Solving, Compliance Assurance)
- Support the “development of” and or “maintain the relationship for” training material for the processes owned (e.g. Process Certification, Problem Solving, Compliance Assurance) and keep the material current in the repository of record, Quality University.
- For externally sourced training or services, maintain a good working relationship to guarantee our minimum standard of competency for services rendered. (i.e. Third -Party Services)
- Provide data and evidence-driven root cause analysis and effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain process training, reporting and certification documentation to ensure that operators clearly understand all position requirements. Serve the operations sites through frequent onsite engagement and coaching support to develop self-sustaining competency.
- Facilitate and support the to conduction of the Quality section of the RPS Site Assessments
- Support the maturity of QMS and supporting processes through the deployment of Process Robustness Maturity standards that will aid in positive ISO compliance outcomes.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred) from an accredited university or college.
- 7+ years of experience working within Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Engineering, and / or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in process improvement and or operational excellence.
- Strong ability to build relationships with internal teams (e.g., Operations, Quality, Engineering, and other business teams)
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Shainin Red X Apprentice, or industry other industry recognized equivalent (e.g. ASQ CQE)
- Great presentation and communication skills
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally; targeted at 50% travel
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field from an accredited university or college
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence peers
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing logics and APQP basics
- Certified six sigma black belt, or Shainin Red X Journeyman
The Pay scale for this position is $100,000-$172,692. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
