Course Description: Capstone (Public Administration Program)

Wake Forest University School of Professional Studies is seeking highly qualified candidates to develop and teach the Capstone course in the online Master of Public Administration program. The ideal candidate is a professional who understands the theory and practice of Public Administration, along with recent trends and innovations in the industry.

Integrating and applying learned skills and experiences leads to a deeper understanding and habits of practice that inform a career. The capstone project applies the knowledge and skills gained through the program to a real-world challenge in the field of public administration. The specific project will vary depending on student interest and goals and may include such things as evaluating the effectiveness of a public policy; preparing a strategic plan for an organization in the public sector; leading a comparative analysis of public administration systems in different countries, designing a public engagement strategy for a public sector organization; and/or analyzing an emerging issue relevant to the field.

Students meet face-to-face in a virtual classroom environment weekly over an academic term, providing them the opportunity to reinforce coursework materials, apply academic concepts, and participate in focused discussions with faculty and colleagues.

    Faculty Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in program field or related degree. Terminal degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in university-level teaching. Preferred applicants also will have a demonstrated ability to deliver graduate-level, online course experiences that are valued by industry. With the targeted audience for this program being adult students pursuing career growth, the University seeks to hire colleagues who are highly skilled in and/or highly attuned to adult learning best practices.
  • 5+ years industry experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and an ability to integrate ethical concepts and broad understandings of diversity.

Compensation for developing a 3.0 credit course= $10,000

Compensation for teaching a 3.0 credit course= $5,000
