About the role
The Tax Operations Manager will be a meticulous and highly skilled decision-maker leading the growing compliance side of our tax department. This pivotal role requires a deep understanding of complex tax matters, organizational prowess, and the ability to manage a dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive under pressure, demonstrating a commitment to meeting tight deadlines, ensuring precise compliance, and optimizing workflow within a high-demand environment.
- What you'll do
- Comprehensive Tax Review and Compliance: Complete final review of returns. Oversee preparation of complex individual and business tax returns, ensuring they meet accuracy and compliance standards. Lead by example in using technology to maintain compliance and enhance efficiency.
- Team Leadership and Development: Identify and address training needs to enhance expertise in tax preparation and compliance. Offer mentorship and hands-on support, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
- Implementation: As a self-sufficient professional, you will craft and implement standard operating procedures that harness Uplinq’s technological resources, aiming for efficiency amid a high volume of work.
- Budget Management and Resource Optimization: Oversee allocation of the team's hours and resources, ensuring optimal project delivery within financial and time constraints.
- Extended Work Hours: Willingness, especially during peak tax seasons, to meet critical deadlines and support the team in navigating high-pressure periods. This requires working hours outside of typical business hours to ensure returns are filed timely.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain stringent quality control protocols to uphold the highest standards of tax preparation and compliance, continuously seeking ways to enhance operational efficiency and process improvements through technology and training.
- Train and mentor junior staff members on tax-related matters.
- Qualifications
- Active EA or CPA certification.
- Must have strong Excel skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in finance, accounting or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax operations including a managerial role for at least 3 years.
- Expertise in corporate tax laws and the ability to navigate and explain complex tax issues clearly.
- Outstanding organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong resilience and capability to work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a knack for nurturing high-performing teams under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with tax software Drake.
- Ability to train, mentor, and manage people.
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, math, finance, or economics is required.
- Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in public accounting or finance, managing accounting and financial operations.
- Significant experience with QuickBooks Online and experience adapting to new processes and software very quickly
The pay range for this role is:
100,000 - 115,000 USD per year(Remote)
