What You’ll Do

Picture this: it’s Monday morning, you open your laptop, coffee in hand, and check your client task list for priorities. A bookkeeper in the Philippines sent a question overnight... you send over a quick Loom, then hop into a restoration client’s books to do the bank reconciliations and make sure the numbers tell the real story. You flag a margin shift and loop in a teammate to help brainstorm how to present it clearly to the client.

Later, you're on Zoom with a founder who wants to understand their financials. They ask a great question about revenue trends, and you love that moment when the lightbulb goes off. You've built that relationship - they trust you, and it shows.

In between, you're fine-tuning an SOP, reviewing payroll for a high-growth startup, and testing a new AI workflow that saves time and sharpens insights. You’re proactive, curious, and always looking for a better way to do the work, surrounded by a team who's just as passionate about helping business owners thrive as you are.

You'll Be Responsible For:
• Owning and performing monthly close procedures
• Reviewing and maintaining clean QuickBooks Online and Xero files
• Reconciling accounts, ensuring revenue recognition accuracy, and maintaining class/project tracking
• Tracking and explaining gross margins and profitability
• Preparing and presenting monthly financial reporting packages
• Managing AP, payroll, and expense tracking using tools like BILL, Ramp, and Gusto
• Collaborating with the internal team to improve processes and resolve open items
• Maintaining clear documentation and professional client communications
• Overseeing and mentoring bookkeepers (US and Philippines)

• You like to plan your work well in advance and prefer things to stay that way - last-minute changes or urgent asks might stress you out
• ​​You prefer working with just a few clients at a time - this role requires managing a full portfolio and context-switching throughout the day
• You’re most comfortable behind the scenes and prefer to have all the answers before speaking with clients - this role often involves thinking on your feet and navigating uncertainty in real time
• You want traditional tax or compliance work - our lane is day-to-day operations and advisory
• You like sticking to familiar tools and processes and don’t get excited about learning new tech, systems, or AI workflows

Must Have Qualifications
• 4-6+ years of progressive accounting experience
• 2+ years of remote work experience
• Strong knowledge of accrual accounting and monthly close processes
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online,Xero and cloud-based accounting tools
• Organized, detail-oriented, and confident managing multiple clients and deadlines
• Strong communication skills and comfort working remotely
• Self-starter mindset with a team-first attitude

Nice-to-Have Experience
• Background in construction, disaster restoration, or field service industries
• Familiarity with job costing, WIP tracking, and project-based accounting
• Experience with tools like Dash, PSA, BuilderTrend, ServiceTitan, or Xactimate
• Exposure to multi-entity businesses, SaaS, or professional service clients
• Knowledge of sales tax compliance, certified payroll, or insurance retainage
• Interest in building process documentation and playbooks

Compensation Package:
• $75,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience and location
• Flexible schedule with Focus Fridays (no meetings)
• $100 monthly fitness benefit
