Tax Engineer

Evolve is seeking a skilled and strategic Tax Engineer to support the company's financial planning and tax optimization initiatives. The Tax engineer will work closely with our leadership and finance teams to develop and implement tax strategies that align with business goals, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and maximize after-tax income. This role will involve proactive tax planning, risk management, and ongoing analysis of tax implications for both current and future business activities.
The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of corporate tax law, proven experience in tax advisory or planning, and the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable strategies. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset are essential in this fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.

Working closely with and reporting to the COO.
Responsibilities
Tax Strategy Development: Design and implement proactive tax strategies that align with the company’s financial goals and minimize tax liabilities.
Compliance Oversight: Ensure timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with all applicable laws.
Tax Risk Analysis: Evaluate potential tax risks and provide guidance on mitigating exposure through appropriate planning and documentation.
Business Advisory: Advise on the tax implications of contracts, investments, and operational decisions to ensure alignment with financial and strategic objectives.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, legal, and operations teams to integrate tax considerations into broader business processes.
Audit & Regulatory Support: Serve as the lead contact for tax audits and inquiries, preparing necessary documentation and communicating with tax authorities as needed.
Tax Law Monitoring: Stay current with changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business, recommending adjustments to strategy where needed.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in tax-related processes and reporting systems for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive tax records, working papers, and supporting materials to ensure readiness for audit or review.
External Liaison: Coordinate with external advisors, including CPAs and legal counsel, to ensure consistent and accurate interpretation of tax matters.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field (Master’s in Taxation or MBA with a tax focus is a plus).
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
5+ years of relevant experience in corporate tax advisory, public accounting, or an in-house tax function.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes, with hands-on experience in tax planning and compliance.
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop strategic, actionable tax solutions.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly.
Self-starter who thrives under pressure and can work independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with business structures (e.g., LLCs, S-corps, partnerships) and their respective tax implications.
Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, and tax-related software (e.g., QuickBooks, ProConnect, CCH Axcess).
Comfortable handling general office equipment and performing administrative tax-related tasks as needed.
Fluency in English and strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and client interaction.
Flexibility in work schedule, including availability during evenings or weekends, and willingness to travel as necessary.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
