Spotlight on Content Engineering Teams:

Promotional Media Engineering

The Promotional Media Management (PMM) team builds the systems that allow users to publish, collaborate, store, share, and discover promotional assets (artwork and video that are used to promote our titles, both on- and off-service). We ingest asset media files along with their metadata, usage rights and restrictions, and all of the other information necessary to drive good business decisions about our assets. Our flagship product, the Promotional Asset Library (PAL), serves both internal users and vendors outside of Netflix, and serves as a central hub for the discovery and distribution of promotional assets. We also develop horizontal platform services for asset management that power other applications across Promotional Media Engineering.

Content Preview Engineering

The Netflix Preview Club (NPC) is a program where select Netflix subscribers are given the opportunity to watch and provide feedback on upcoming Netflix content before it is officially released to the general public. Participants in the club will share their opinions on various aspects of the shows or movies they watch, which can help Netflix in making final adjustments and improvements. The Content Preview Engineering team builds the systems that support screening creation, subscriber provisioning, and new member onboarding for NPC.

Vendor & Talent Foundations Engineering

Netflix is continuing to invest heavily to produce content this year. A production's ability to successfully meet its schedule and budget targets depend in large part on the talent (actors, directors, writers, cast & crew, etc.), vendors hired and the quality of service provided. Our team builds the platform, software and tools to enable Netflix Studio to discover, hire, onboard, and manage the best vendors and world-class talent to work on our productions. Our tools also help with planning and resourcing workflows that result in the production and delivery of the highest quality content at scale.
