Position Summary/Purpose of Position: The University of Maryland invites applications for the position of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) in the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership (TLPL). The position offers opportunities for research, teaching and service that build on partnerships with local districts in a dynamic state policy context. The successful applicant will join a vibrant scholarly community in Applied Linguistics and Language Education (ALLE) whose programs include an undergraduate minor, master's programs, an EdD program, and a PhD program. ALLE is home to the Multilingual Research Center, a thriving center committed to promoting research and outreach related to multilingualism, multilingual communities, and bilingual/multilingual education. The department, college, and campus are committed to challenging systemic racism, and partnering with communities to offer solutions that contribute to equity and social justice in education. Benefits Summary Top Benefits and Perks: Minimum Qualifications: Education: Doctorate in Bilingual Education, Educational Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, World Language Education, or related fields. Experience: A record of research and scholarly publications on dual language education commensurate with expectations for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Record of excellence in teaching, research, and service commensurate with expectations for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Experience working in bilingual/multilingual contexts and expertise collaborating, teaching, and/or participating in minoritized culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Preferences: Preferences: Pre-K-12 classroom teaching experience in dual language bilingual education, two-way immersion, world language education, and/or immersion classroom settings. Teacher certification in dual language education, TESOL/ESL, or bilingual education. Evidence of successful applications for external funding commensurate with expectations for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Evidence of collaboration with faculty, graduate students, policymakers, and/or school district leaders or community leaders. Knowledge of language education policy related to K-12 multilingual learners in the US. Evidence of commitment to inclusive pedagogies, multilingualism, anti-racist pedagogies, social justice, and/or critical consciousness.
