What Does a Special Education Teacher Do...
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in creating and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Instructional Planning: Develop and deliver customized lesson plans that cater to the diverse learning needs of students with special needs, using virtual teaching platforms.
Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group instruction remotely, focusing on reinforcing learning objectives and promoting academic progress.
Behavioral Management: Implement effective behavioral intervention strategies and maintain an inclusive and engaging virtual classroom environment.
Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to student development and success.
Assessment and Evaluation: Utilize virtual tools to monitor and assess student progress, adjust instructional strategies as needed, and maintain thorough records of student achievements and areas for improvement.
IEP Development: Participate actively in the creation, implementation, and review of individualized education programs (IEPs) to ensure they meet the specific needs of each student.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Valid New York State certification in Special Education.
Previous experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is highly desirable.
Proficiency with virtual teaching platforms and digital tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues in a remote environment.
